After completing this learning activity, the participant should be able to:

• Define domestic violence and the types of violence that occur.
• Recognize laws and regulations that pertain to domestic violence and its impact on healthcare.
• Indicate how to use assessment and screening methods to best identify at-risk populations and provide safety in practice settings.
• List community resources available at the local, state, and federal levels for those affected by domestic violence and abuse.
