Gerontology: Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia Care for Providers

This course is intended to support current and future paraprofessionals in understanding the effects that dementia and Alzheimer’s disease have on their patients, clients, and residents.

After completing this learning activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Summarize the definition and symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
2. Identify the stages of dementia.
3. Evaluate the possible causes and types of dementia.
4. Select appropriate interventions of care in common situations for patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
